We made it! Sort of.

Hello!

What a delightful weekend we had!

Not.

Opposite Day.

J/K.

And whatever other 3rd grade saying that will get my point across.

WE MOVED.

Have I ever mentioned that I detest moving? Not so much the changing residence part, but more of the packing and unpacking part. And realizing that you own way more than you need. Since we are temporarily moving from a house to an apartment, we had to move a lot of stuff into storage. (less to unpack… YAY!) All of the furniture and big items are moved…which you would think would be the hard part.

No.

That is not the hard part.

It is the million little items that you wouldn’t even think of around the house.

And that is where we are at. The riff raff. The odds and ends. The torture.

Our lease isn’t up on the house for another week… so this week will be finishing up moving, unpacking and cleaning. Fun.

We are at the new place right now with the necessities unpacked. A kind neighbor has generously allowed us to use their wireless Internet…since ours is not hooked up until tomorrow. 😉 I will post some pictures as soon as I find the USB cord for my camera somewhere inside of the mountain of boxes in our office.

From the camera phone…

The view from our back porch… the golf course. Too bad my clubs are in storage. Too bad I’m not any good anyway. 😉

I can’t help but crack up at this next picture. We are finding all sorts of quirks at the new place. The light in the ceiling fan had burned out so Jon went to replace it… with a normal light bulb. When he removed the light fixture… he found that the light bulb was a big Christmas light. haha Neither one of us had seen a ceiling fan require this light… so the look I captured on Jon’s face is pretty much classic.

jon

hahaha! I couldn’t stop laughing. Turns out the light bulb just wasn’t screwed in all the way.

One more thing:

tree

Oh yeah.

It is up.

It is not decorated, but it made it’s debut on November 8th.

Too early? I think not. 😉

I have a gazillion things to do… a trillion things to unpack… and I will make Christmas decorating a priority.

Yes, decorating 2 weeks before it is socially acceptable.

Get off my back… it is a harmonious blend of procrastination and jumping the gun.

Stew on the for a while.

Yes, by the end of the week… this residence will be a Christmas wonderland.

Just try and stop me.

I’ve been taking pictures of stuff we’re still using but want to get rid of before the move, listing it on Craig’s List and taking it down when someone calls! You need an overseas assignment- when you come back and get your stuff out of storage, you’ll purge, purge, purge! :)

I say, “just go for it” with the Christmas decorating. You only get to enjoy it once a year, so what’s the big deal with throwing in an extra couple weeks? 😉

Moving is SOOOOO stressful! When we moved into our current home, Christmas was one week away, and our previous home had not sold! It was the BEST way to move! I didn’t bring anything to the new house except furniture and Christmas decor. It was the first time I had ever put up Christmas decor without having to remove other junk from tables, shelves, etc. Good luck! I look forward to seeing pictures. laurie

Moving… grrrr! We moved 6 times in 6 years. I remember it well…and know it is not easy. I feel your pain!!
I love the fact that you already put your tree up, and I can’t wait to see the rest of your decorations up soon. I always want to decorate the day after Thanksgiving and Steve thinks it’s too soon. I say NO WAY, the earlier the better, right?!

You have my deepest sympathy! I have moved one too many times myself! I’m also hoping by the end of the week my house will look like Christmas!
