The Body For Life Challenge

bfl1

As mentioned in my previous post, I have started the Body for Life Challenge this week. Let me explain what it is before I explain why I have chosen this plan.

The Body For Life Challenge occurs every year. You can enter a before and after picture with an essay on the change–physically, mentally and emotionally. The prize is $25,000 awarded to 1 male and 1 female and $10,000 for 6 category champions. The website has all of the details and rules for the challenge. We all know that getting healthy is priceless, however, sometimes motivation is fueled by competition. This is a pretty good way to compete if you ask me. 😉

Seeing my before picture that I took yesterday (in my wretched bathing suit) was eye-opening. And saddening. And humbling. And humiliating. And oh so very motivating. My present state didn’t happen over night; it occurred over several years of neglect… several years of not making my health a priority and living such a busy life that I “couldn’t find the time” to exercise. That picture is going in the front of my Body for Life journal to remind me one of the many reasons of why I’m changing my lifestyle. More than just tight fitting clothes, I am tired of being addicted to sweets, tired of being a slave to food, tired of being

Hi Melissa! BFL, as I came to know it, is the best program out there (ok, IMO :)). You’ve made a great choice. I did BFL from about ’99 to ’05. There were ups and downs, of course, but for the most part it worked great for me. Thanks for making me think about this again. Really, the only part I’ve kept is free day, and sometimes that’s all week long.. lol. I keep saying I “need” to do something… maybe this is the something I need again. Best wishes to you. It’s a great program and very doable!! -Tammy

Hooray for you! I started working out at home after kids- so much easier to get up early than to haul everyone to the gym. I read First Place recently, and that in conjunction with a chapter in Lies Women Believe have helped me get my mindset in the right place to make a few more dietary changes. Keep us posted on your progress!
