Today is my Birthday! Yippee!
Instead of a birthday wish-list… I wanted to celebrate some of my favorite things!
…Things that make me happy. For no good reason.
All of them.
Specifically… Polo Roses, Ranunculus, Dahlias, Snapdragons, Daisies, Billy Balls and Hydrangeas.
Sweet Tea on a hot day…
and Grandma’s Carrot Cake. Cold.
Warm summer nights.
warm enough to not need a sweater.
String lights and country music.
The transition from the end of Summer to Fall.
When the air starts becoming crisp at night and you can feel the excitement of Fall…
of Apple Pies and Caramel Apples… Harvest and Halloween.
The culture, the people, the landscape, the food, the big, puffy clouds and spectacular sunsets…
Hill Country and bluebonnets, tin roofs, longhorns and BBQ.
Texas felt like home to me long before I ever lived there…
and now that we’ve moved away, I miss it even more.
Old Country Churches.
There is just something so beautiful about these traditional churches…
their steeples and bells… arched, stained glass windows and double doors.
It just brings to mind happy thoughts of church picnics and weddings…
and knowing that people from years past have worshiped the good Lord there.
There is nothing more exhilarating than soaring through the sky…
seeing a view of the world that few ever get to see.
I love the smell of pine trees and the crisp mountain air…
I love all things rustic and “cabin”… moose, bears, lanterns and log cabins.
There is just something so breathtaking and awe-inspiring when in the presence of the grandness of God’s creation.
Relaxing on the Beach…
The sound of the waves and sea gulls…
the smell of coconut oil…
toes in the warm sand.
And lots of beach food…
hot dogs, grapes, watermelon, Dorritos and cold Dr. Pepper.

Ohhh… I could go on and on with my favorite things.
But I think 10 is enough to celebrate today.
I hope y’all enjoy one of my favorite things today in honor of my birthday… DONUTS… after all, it is not a coincidence that I was born on National Donut Day!!
