Today, I got a basketful of apples just from one tree that is right in front of my yard. So I am planning to make some wonderful good old-fashioned apple pie. And I will do It just like how my grandma used to do it. You see, when I was a wee little girl, I love eating her apple pie straight from the oven when it’s warm and oozing with goodness.
There is a garage sale tomorrow in my neighbor’s front yard and I plan to bring my apple pie for
my neighbor and her customers to taste – all for free. Amazing, right?
Know at the outset that what I will be sharing a recipe of an apple pie with a flaky, butter crust that has a sweet and wonderful filling
So here goes my recipe for that old-fashioned apple pie, straight from the recipe of my grandma:
- Preheat your own up to 375 degrees. Then flour your kitchen surface. Once done, you can now roll out pate brisee into circles as big as a small plate. You can then put this pastry circle into a plate, put another one on waxed paper and pop it in the freezer. Always check to make sure it’s firm.
- Combine the apples with lemon zest, sugar, flour and add spices. Mix it thoroughly. The put it into the pie pan with the pastry circle. Cover with the other pastry circle that has been put on waxed paper. You can then crimp the edges, brush with an egg wash and add on a bit of sugar on top.
- Open your oven and pop in the apple pie that you’ve made. Bake it until the crust is brown. This will take about an hour. Make sure to let the pie cool before you serve.
