I feel like such a bad blogger… mainly because I haven’t blogged in FOREVER. Ok, it has only been a few days… and then a few days before that post. But doesn’t that seem like forever by blogging standards? I guess I just needed a little vacation from my blog as “real life” needed my attention. Don’t you hate when that happens? 😉

So here is the scoop:

Our time in Texas is coming to a close. I’m certainly not in a desperate rush to leave Texas–I’ve always wanted to live here and now that I do, I like it just as much as I thought I would–but at the same time I just want to live somewhere… anywhere (almost)… that we can have a slight sense of

I’m laughing- only because I feel your pain. We just got our orders Monday. We pack in about 5 weeks- one day for unaccompanied baggage, one day for long term storage, a couple days for the overseas shipment. And suitcases for 3 kids and 2 adults for 4 months + some toys + Christmas presents + home school books…. And we have two birthday parties to hold, Thanksgiving, involvement in the church’s musical program for Christmas, a thesis to finish, exams… In a few years, you’ll look back at this move and think how easy it was without kids and more stuff! :) Enjoy this time, too, while your husband flies- once staff rank comes up, it’s a whole new ballgame!

Aah, don’t you love military life? In the Marine Corps, we say that we wives have to be Semper Gumby–or Always Flexible (a take off on the Corps’ motto of Always Faithful.) We also say to bloom where you’re planted.
I would suggest not worrying too much about decorating and things like that for the short time in base housing. Enjoy the forced simplicity. We lived in a very tiny base house two duty stations ago and I learned that I didn’t need half the crap we had put in storage.
Also, we LOVED living on base–so convenient and also like a throw back in time. It sometimes feels like the 1950s to see the kids riding bikes and running around in the backyards of base officer housing. Take care!!!
