Wedding Week: Rehearsal at Moon River Ranch

We got to Moon River Ranch bright and early on Friday morning to start decorating and get everything set up the way we wanted it.

As I had previously mentioned, I just had to incorporate the boat house into the wedding festivities somehow. We decided it would be the perfect place to have our rehearsal dinner. This suggestion was met with some gentle opposition… as the ranch had never had an event in the boat house being that it was kind of “rustic”. However, I had a vision… and just knew it would be perfect for us. I am all about rustic and authentic… and it didn’t get much better than this.

My mom, Emily and I started the set up for the rehearsal dinner which included setting up tables and chairs, rearranging furniture already in the boat house and decorating with a few of our touches.

The boat house is right on the Brazos river, so we thought a “Bayou” theme would be the perfect fit.

There is a big porch deck that sits over the river.

The boat house is pretty much a big screened porch with unbelievable river views!

My mom and I got started unloading our gazillion candles, lanterns and tablecloths. Meanwhile, Emily found a friend.

Just about done…

We arranged a long table for the wedding party and family…and several other tables for all of our friends. The colors were a light green and red with some white accents. We found coordinating fabric to make tablecloths… green and white gingham, red and white gingham and some white frogs on red fabric.

Different colored tin lanterns were collected from various HomeGoods and placed as a centerpiece for each table. Toy alligators held each guest’s seat assignment card in their mouths. Votive candles were placed all around to give the boat house a glow come nightfall. I think we are all set!

We finished the boat house about the same time the guys finished the barn.

It was time to get ready for the rehearsal and to start welcoming our arriving guests to the ranch.

Since the ranch accommodated around 30 guests, the majority of our wedding guests stayed at the ranch with us. We made welcome bags for each guest room.

We had the bags made by Favors You Keep which included a picture of a bride and groom in an airplane. It said “Love is in the air” with our names. The bags were complete with bandana print tissue paper and red and white gingham bows.

Inside the bags we had all sorts of Texas goodies… from Dr. Pepper to Moon Pies. It also included a handmade
