Well, I had to keep things hush hush about my surprise trip to California… as I was attending my sister’s surprise 30th birthday party!! (and she reads my blog so I couldn’t give it away that I was going). So. Here I am. In California (again) for her party and then the Disneyland Half Marathon. 
We had the surprise party on Saturday night in the Temecula Wine Country at a favorite winery of ours, Ponte.
It was pretty amazing how clueless my sister was about the party. Her husband even went so far as to send out a fake Evite for a “BBQ at their house” on Sunday to celebrate her birthday…which totally threw her off. haha Surprise parties are always a lot more fun when the person is actually surprised!

Despite the rain the previous day and that morning, the evening turned out to be glorious and sunny.
We did a red, black and white theme accented with yellow.
We made topiary rag trees as the table centerpieces in lieu of fresh flowers to set a whimsical mood.

White cake with fresh strawberry filling… and decorated with glittery strawberries. 
The party was a success! Everyone had a hoot celebrating Jessica’s arrival to the big 3-0!

BTW, my son went to professional golf school in Temecula and lived in Carlsbad. I was in awe of the area when I visited him. Just a beautiful place to live!!
