I am one of those people that just seems to attract bad luck… and I say that as optimistically as I can. Whenever there is a “big” event or something that I am really looking forward to… it doesn’t fail; I get sick. And this has happened all my life… as far back as I can remember. If I’m going on vacation… I’ll get sick the day before I leave. The first and only pageant I entered as a teenager… I got laryngitis the weekend of the pageant and lost my voice. As a cheerleader in high school I missed my first pep rally performance and first football game because I randomly lost my vision for a few hours. (Had never happened before and has never happened since.) Two days before my wedding and I am sitting in a doctor’s office… sick with strep throat. All year long I will be perfectly healthy and all of the days leading up to said “big event” and I am perfectly fine.
I can’t say that I’m particularly surprised… but as most of you know, I flew out to California to run my first half marathon at Disneyland. I’ve been training for months and looking forward to it even longer. And guess what? I’ve been parked on my parents’ couch sick as a dog for the past few days. Double ear infections, sore throat, sinusitis and I’m pretty sure a train ran over my head. I went straight to the doctor to get antibiotics, attempting to salvage any chance of running the race. It’s been two days of antibiotics, antihistamines and expectorants… and now I feel it in my chest. A burning cough. Fantastic. I have 4 days to get better. I think I need a miracle. At this point, I will be happy if I even get to walk it…just to finish. With my luck the lagwagon will flag me down and scoop up my wheezing, coughing self and give me the ride of shame back to the spectator area where I belong. haha With all of the smoke in the air from the raging fires across Southern California… I really don’t expect the race to end any other way for me.

Goooo Team Lagwagon!!!
In other news, Jon sent me a picture of this today:

…with what appears to be a tornado forming. Right. In. Front. Of. Him.
Unfortunately Jon was not driving the TIV… so poor sickly me almost had a panic attack…
which continued as he decided to go fly in weather that looked like this:

Seriously? I’ll take one long distance anxiety with a side of worry and panic to go, please.
Perhaps this is my karma for laughing when Dallas ate Jon’s spaghetti sandwich today.
Ay yay yay.
I need a chocolate. And a nap.
