Hey California. The Sahara Desert called. They want their weather back. It was 110 degrees today! Seriously.
Yoohoo! Fall! Where are you??
I feel like I am cheating myself out of the final days of summer… but I just can’t help it. I am longing for the warm days and crisp nights of fall. Heck, I’ll take an Indian Summer night. And Halloween. Be still my heart, Halloween. The countdown is on: 1 more day and it is officially appropriate to start pulling out the Halloween and Fall decor, just FYI. 
Anyway, every time I get in the Autumn mood, I can’t help but go to Julian. It is like a yearly ritual during this time of year. Julian is another little mountain town in San Diego county. It is rich with history and even richer with Apple Pie. And Caramel Apples. And Cider Donuts. And Apple Butter. In other words, they grow apples and they know exactly what to do with them.

What a fun day! We were certainly tuckered out at the end of it.
My Granny made the best apple butter EVER. It was bittersweet when I used my last jar after she died. Just yesterday my daughter asked about it, so I need to get the recipe from my mom and give it a whirl- it’s the best on buttermilk biscuits!
