Things I can’t believe:
♥ We are finally moved into our house in California.
♥ We don’t live in Texas anymore.
♥ The internet company in our town is as slow as molasses in hooking up internet.
♥ I haven’t read blogs in over a month.
♥And it has been over a MONTH since my last post.
No seriously. A month.
♥ How many posts are waiting for me to read in my Bloglines.
♥ That our house is still nowhere close to being unpacked.
♥ Or remodeled for that matter.
♥ That there are a litter of babies in my tummy. At least 12. That’s my best guess.
So that’s the summation of my absence. So many changes in such a short time. So much adjusting to do.
We are making progress with the house. We were able to lay new floors and paint most of the rooms. We still have quite a ways to go but we are working on it. Well, I should say Jon is working on it. Most days I feel too sick for manual labor and frankly, I don’t really trust myself working a table saw anyway. But I keep Jon company so that counts for something, right? 😉 I am taking before and after pictures and will let y’all see when we finish up.
As for the pregnancy… I am now in my 12th week! Hip hip hooray! I’m told all of the horrible 1st trimester symptoms should be going away soon. Not soon enough in my opinion. haha Like most others, the nausea is awful. I’m exhausted all of the time and really do not have the energy or the desire to do a lot of the things I previously enjoyed. Smells are the worst. Even smells that I used to enjoy absolutely repulse me now. Especially the kitchen. I tried to make dinner with a mask on and even that didn’t prevent me from feeling sickened by the smells.
I haven’t had any alarming cravings really…except Del Taco. I always want Del Taco… unfortunately we don’t have one near us. I think about driving 30 minutes to get a classic taco daily. haha One of these days I might just do it.
I have turned into a soup fanatic. Soup everyday. And I am NOT a soup person. To me, soup is an appetizer and something better be coming for round 2 after that bowl of soup. 😉 Now, I eat it for meals every. single. day. Watch out cup of noodles, chicken noodles, extra noodles… anything with a noodle. I will eat you.
I can eat fruit, too. Someone pat me on the back for that. I’m terrified I am going to birth a baby noodle or something. I am losing my marbles for cuties, strawberries and watermelon. Sometimes I can do grapes, plums and pears.
Other than that, I try to snack all day. The moment my stomach is empty I am doomed. Gummy bears, sunflower seeds, granola bars, cheez-its, animal crackers and frosted flakes.
I have been trying to get an appointment to see the doctor since the only other visit was a required “congratulations you are pregnant” visit. However, we soon discovered that I am not allowed to see the doctor until I attend a “prenatal class”. Which they have once a week. Which has been booked. Perfect. Thankfully, I got in tomorrow’s class. So after tomorrow, I can make an appointment for the doctor. At this rate, I will find out the sex of the baby on the first visit! I’m just glad that I got into the class…even though I was hoping to be excused if I could convince them that I’ve already read 63 books on pregnancy and what to expect. No? How about if I solemnly swear that I watch entirely too many TLC shows on babies and birthing. Enough to scare the living daylights out of me. Let alone watching the Duggars and questioning the sanity of a woman who has 19 children and experiences morning sickness every single time. Holy moly. Now don’t get me wrong… I think the Duggars are pretty much the cutest family ever… but morning sickness 19 times?! She needs an award. Or a statue. Something.
Anyway. We are getting settled into life in Central California. Our town has a Walmart AND a Target! and a Panera (more SOUP!) and a little mall. We have been on the hunt for a church to call home. Which, in my opinion, is like finding a needle in a haystack. But that is a whole other post. I think we found one which we are really excited about.
I suppose I better go do some laundry (wish me luck with the smell of the detergent. ugh.) and I can’t wait to catch up on my blog reading!
I hope y’all are having a terrific April!
