I made it to California in one piece! And so did the poochies!
Let’s take a little pictorial journey through our road trip.
Only the finest quality camera phone pictures will do.
Ye be warned.
Starting out on Friday night…
Dallas couldn’t control his licker.
We stopped in San Antonio at a pretty swanky hotel.
Dallas tried out the bed.
I highly recommend Aloft if you are ever visiting San Antonio. It is fresh, hip, young and totally affordable.
We left bright and early…
and drove ALL DAY across west Texas…
and then through New Mexico…
thanks for getting in the way, pole!
Dallas isn’t particularly fond of car rides.
He hides his head in the side door compartment.
If it wasn’t for his seatbelt he would be completely under the seat.
A spectacular sunset in New Mexico.
I love the train.
No. I REALLY love the train.
Hello Arizona sign. Goodbye Arizona sign.
I zipped by too fast to get a picture. 😉
Dolly’s dream of riding shotgun finally came true.
A long day of driving finally ended in Chandler, Arizona.
The hotel wasn’t swanky.
Nor picture worthy.
So you don’t get to see it.
Sunday was my Body for Life free day.
And guess what I found with my hawk eyes.
Not anything near California donuts…
(Yes. I’ve been grossly disappointed with Texas donuts, too.)
…but they will do.
Get in my belly!
Excellent fuel for the drive across no-man’s land.
Darn. I was really hoping for some company.
Dolly got a treat.
But her nose told her there was something better up ahead.
And her nose doesn’t lie.
The only place that you will wait in a 30 car line through the drive thru for 20 minutes and not complain.
Dallas was worried.
And took a drink from his no spill Water Hole Bowl.
That thing is a lifesaver in the car.
We finally made it!
My parents got a new dog since the last time Dolly and Dallas visited…
So they were really excited to meet their new Uncle.
Parents’ dog = my dog brother
My dogs = my dog children
Parents’ dog = my dog children’s uncle.
Does anyone follow my logic?
Toby (the black and tan cavalier) is finally reunited with his buddies!
Charlie (the new doggy) is meeting Dolly and Dallas for the first time.
Toby was ecstatic.
Charlie ran away.
He ran where he was safe.
By the big red couch.
That was not safe enough.
He must hide better.
Can anyone see me here?
I’m behind the couch cushion…just so you know.
Don’t tell those two weird dogs.
Just when Charlie thought it was safe to come out…
… Dolly would come out and sniff him.
Charlie didn’t like that.
And ran away.
After days of nervousness, worry and confusion…
…Charlie allowed the gap of separation to decrease…
… and he is glad he did.
… because he just made two new buddies!
Toby, on the other hand, doesn’t care what dogs are there.
…just as long as someone throws him the ball!
The poochies are going to stay at Grandma’s house until we move back to California in a few months. They will be missed dearly.
As for them… I think they just made out like a bandit.
Fields to run in… their own plate at the dinner table…
they get spoiled at Grandma’s house.
They may never want to come back. 😉
