Hey California. The Sahara Desert called. They want their weather back. It was 110 degrees today! Seriously.
Yoohoo! Fall! Where are you??
I feel like I am cheating myself out of the final days of summer… but I just can’t help it. I am longing for the warm days and crisp nights of fall. Heck, I’ll take an Indian Summer night. And Halloween. Be still my heart, Halloween. The countdown is on: 1 more day and it is officially appropriate to start pulling out the Halloween and Fall decor, just FYI.
Anyway, every time I get in the Autumn mood, I can’t help but go to Julian. It is like a yearly ritual during this time of year. Julian is another little mountain town in San Diego county. It is rich with history and even richer with Apple Pie. And Caramel Apples. And Cider Donuts. And Apple Butter. In other words, they grow apples and they know exactly what to do with them.
Up to the mountains we go…
Welcome to Julian!
Getting ready for our excursion into the ginormous town of Julian. 😉
One of my favorite places to eat in Julian… they have the best Chicken Pot Pie!
A sneaky sneak picture through the Julian Bakery window. These beauties were just set out to dry.
Ella and I are ready to see some shops.
We started at the Warm Hearth… our favorite shop there.
Oooo la la… Halloween goodies.
Cute little birds…
Ella found herself a hat that she was particularly fond of… 😉
I think the shopping bug escaped Miss Ella relatively quickly.
Where should we go next?
I think the Candied Apple sounds like a good idea.
Ella is in heaven…
Luke eating a “cook cook”…
Pies from the Candied Apple.
Pies from Mom’s.
And on to see more pies from Julian Pie Company.
Ella likes her Maple donuts… just like her auntie. 😉
Want to see a magic trick??
I can make my donut disappear…
Lukey liked Ella’s magic trick…
In the spirit of Halloween, Ella told us a story about a monster.
It was a spooky story.
Jessica and me.
Horse and carriage…
Ella found herself a horse to ride on, too.
And then we stopped to pick up some jams…
What a fun day! We were certainly tuckered out at the end of it. 😉
