A Bunch of Firsts for Peanut

This past week Layla had a few firsts!

Her most important first was meeting her Pappaw and Mimi (Jon’s dad and step-mom). They came out from Arkansas to meet her. :) While they were here, Layla saw her first snow AND visited her first National Park.

It was an exciting week for her!

Since Jon’s Dad and step-mom have never been to Sequoia National Park, we took a drive up there on Sunday. It was a perfect day… sunny with beautiful snow-covered mountains.

All bundled up for the snow.

Jon with his Dad and Layla.

Look at all that snow!

Here I am. 😉

Layla and Daddy.

Our little family. :)

Going to the Visitor’s center. We were the only ones there! It was a great time to visit the park!

We got Layla her own National Parks Passport (Every National Park has it’s own stamp with that day’s date that you can collect). Here we are collecting Layla’s first National Park stamp.

We watched a presentation on Sequoia’s Bears in the theater at the Visitor Center… and then headed out to see the Giant Forest. Again, we only saw a handful of people the entire time we are there…and if you’ve ever been to Sequoia in the Spring/Summer time, you know how crowded it can get!

In front of General Sherman tree.

Oh yeah. We four-wheeled the stroller up the trail. haha

We wanted Peanut to be snuggly warm.

Just to get an idea of how deep the snow was:

Yeah. I was impressed with the icicles. 😉

Peek-a-Boo. A snuggle bug.

It was such a beautiful day at the top of the mountain. The sun was shining and the skies were blue…but the day didn’t start out that way. If you look at the picture below… it looks like a lake or maybe snow…but it was CLOUDS! We traveled through a cloud layer the entire way up the mountain and popped out above the clouds at the top. It looked exactly like it does when you are flying above clouds in an airplane. It was just gorgeous.

More clouds… taken from a lookout on the side of the road.

Mountains poking out of the clouds.

And going back down the mountain, through the clouds, and back to the gloomy day at the bottom.

At dinner that night. Peanut was such a good girl the entire day. She slept up and down the mountain and was wide awake just in time for chicken pot pies and apple pie. We love Marie Callender’s. :)

Layla loves snuggling with her Pappaw.

And here is where the fun ends. :( Poor baby doll had her 2 month shots, too. It was just awful.

See her little band-aid on her chunky leg? And the expression on her face?

Yeah, I’m pretty sure she handled it better than me. I was a wreck. I just couldn’t stand seeing her scream and cry… especially knowing that I couldn’t do anything about it. I’ve already told Jon that he is going to be taking her next time. ;( She is doing much better today, so I am grateful for that.

Mimi and Pappaw got Layla a Build-a-Bear doggy and gave it to her when we got home from the doctors.

They named her LuLu and she is wearing a Navy uniform, just like Daddy. :)

I thought it was just the cutest thing. It made ME feel better. haha

Layla definitely had a full week filled with firsts and, of course, we all enjoyed our time with family.

Hope y’all are having a good week, too!
